A Meditation-Reading-Rotating Mentor Program
American Indian grandparents telling stories to their grandchildren around the evening campfire is the noble thesis for the "My Quiet Time" program. The next day the Indian child would retreat to his secret place in the woods and re-live the story heard last night. The stories hold the lessons of life. The learning process is initially inspired by the elders, and then it is self taught. Resourcefulness and responsibility were the results. Indian people often referred to this as the “Laka Dula” time. This process was handed down to each generation for centuries.
Today, these ingredients for duplication are not practical or available but the concept is not lost. After years of research we have successfully put together the “My Quiet Time” Program, a combination of reading and meditation. The child chooses one of six scientifically created pictures designed to “pull the child into the picture” where he can create a little world of his own. He can change and adjust his world as his needs expand. The campfire on the banks of a hill are not necessary. His quiet place is bright, warm, and secure. It becomes the most wonderful place for a child to be.
The traditional and wonderful stories of the grandparents are now found in the books that accompany this program. Fourteen Native American authored and illustrated books, all created for this specific purpose, open the child’s mind as they plant the seeds for learning, investigation, and inquiry, derived from an ever expanding curiosity of life. In PDF format, the vivid and beautiful colors of the illustrated books bring the stories to life as imagination spawns creativity in the child’s mind.

THE PROPOSAL
This is the New Direction of the New Century.
1) Introduce the "My Quiet Time Meditation-Reading Program" to Third and Fourth Grade Classes.
2) 4 -6 weeks later, 1/4 or 1/3 or 1/2 of the classroom visits the Kindergarten and First Grade classes for one hour each day. Each upperclassman is assigned 2 - 3 underclassmen to serve as their mentors. They will teach the QT Meditation to their juniors. Later, using the QT Meditation as the vehicle of learning, the mentors will teach the required lessons under the direction of the teacher. Each group of Third and Forth Graders will serve one hour per day sharing their skills with their juniors.
a) The juniors will quickly and eagerly follow the path set by their seniors.
b) Lower grade teachers will get consistent help while upper grade teachers will have smaller class sizes.
c) Seniors will learn responsibility and capitalize on lessons missed in earlier years.
3) Fourth Graders will teach the Second Graders using the "QT Program" as the vehicle of learning.
4) Grades 5 - 8 are introduced to the self taught "My Secret Source Meditation-Reading Program." Only minimal instruction is required here.
5) Grade 6 instructs Grade 4 in the My Secret Source Meditation and required lessons.
6) Grade 5 instructs Grade 3 using the QT vehicle. This enhances the quality of instruction the Third Graders give to the lower grades. The senior children polish their previous Third Grade lessons as they coach their juniors. This review achieves a total balance in the seniors.
7) Grades 7 & 8, where available, coach 2 - 3 students of grades 5 & 6 using the My Secret Source vehicle.
8) Visiting mentors will intergrate and unify the entire school.
a) The Twenty First Century version of the “One Room School House.”
b) Seniors recycle their Junior years and a stronger base of knowledge is formed.
c) Admiration of the Seniors will cause the Juniors to look forward to becoming mentors through achievement and self discipline. A serious student arises from the environment of confusion.
d) Subtle preparation is laid by the senior to ease the anxiety of the junior as promotion occurs to the next higher level.
e) With 25 to 50% of the senior classes removed every hour the teachers have smaller classes and more attention can be given to detail and personal instruction.
f) Kindergarten and First Grade Classes, when divided into units of two or three students, each with their regular mentors, will give the teacher more control and discipline over her charges.
g) Upper classmen working with a teacher to reach an achievable goal promotes the desire to become an adult by recognizing the satisfaction of earned responsibility through sharing.
9) Each complete program is on a CD. They are priced at $399.00 each or $699.00 for both. When placed on the school’s server, every student is covered, year after year, after year.
10) Visit www.piquapress.com/ldlh.html for complete information on the self taught My Secret Source Meditation-Reading Program designed specifically for adolescents.
11) The accumulated stress derived from the anxiety of the "No Child Left Behind" tests can be minimized dramatically for both students and teachers when this "Meditation-Reading-Rotating Mentor Program" is activated. This amalgamated program integrates and unifies the entire school. It is peer teaching at its best and it will quickly put an end to the Bullying that may escape the adults notice. The attention of the seniors will inspire the juniors to achieve rapidly and the collective scores/grades will shoot up as self confidence eliminates the stress that is paramount in every child's life.
Read on. Perhaps the following information will convince you the "My Quiet Time" Program is appropriate for the little ones in your life.
