I am the re-incarnation of a fallen Indian Warrior.

I am a child of the Earth, a child of Love, a child of Light.

I was born of all races, I am a boy, I am a girl.

I am the son of the sky, I am the daughter of the earth.

I am the wind in your face; I am the water at your feet; I am the fire in your heart.

I do not remember when I was an Indian warrior.

I do not remember my Indian family and my Indian home.

I do not remember why my life, my family, my heritage, my way of life, was stolen from me.

I have no quarrel with the past.

I harbor no thoughts of revenge.

I seek no compensation for injustice.

I am born with an insatiable urge to do something big.

I am aware that I am different, that my generation is different, from all previous generations.

I am aware of what is traditionally expected of me.

I am acutely aware that I shall not follow in the footsteps of my predecessors when they became of age.

I am aware this is my calling and I freely make it my choice.

I am a revolutionary non participant in the System.

I expect understanding from my grandparents who once rebelled against the system in protest on the ways of drugs and sex.

I shall make no effort to correct the ills of the culture.

I shall ignore the existence of governments, commerce, and religions.

I shall subscribe to no organization regardless of its purpose or power.

I am an independent individual. I can stand alone.

My environment of steel and concrete offends me.

In the bosom of the soil, under the protection of the trees, I find my solace and comfort.

The plants and the animals of nature are my teachers.

The woods, the streams, the mountains, the prairies, are my home.

The untroden path is my direction, it summons my destiny.

My at oneness with our Earth mother makes me a child of the universe.

I am a child of Intelligent Energy, I am Love.

I and my generation shall not be absorbed into the systems of greed, of competition, of combativeness, as have been the preceding generations.

I shall not work for money and for what it will buy.

I shall create the items of my needs and share it with my fellows in an environment of Economic Equality.

I am simple in my needs for comfort. I am complex in my needs to understand the true nature of the purpose of Creation.

I crave the time and opportunity to be alone with my thoughts and to meditate on the potential of my exquisite mind.

Freely I chose this incarnation, freely I prepare to go forth into adulthood.

Freely I accept the catalysts that allow me to know myself better.

Freely I reject the catalysts that attempt to force me to be conventional, as was the tradition of my predecessors.

Freely I refuse to be intimidated by the threat of adverse consequences proclaimed to be foisted upon me by the leaders of a decaying and dysfunctional system.

Freely I find joy, happiness, and deep satisfaction in the company of fellow Ghost Dancers all over the world.

In my footsteps shall walk my children, and their children's children, into a future of peace, of love, of happiness, of wisdom, and of understanding.
